St
Fagans, Cardiff
The museum is next
to cardiff ; he says the story of the cultural héritage in
Wales.St Fagans is situated on the land of a beautiful castle which
has 400years old.
The
museum Opens at 10am and closes at 5pm daily ;
St
Fagans is one of Europe's leading open-air museums and Wales's most
popular heritage attraction. It stands in the grounds of the
magnificent St Fagans Castle, a late 16th-century manor house donated
to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth.
The
interior of the castle illustrates the history of the house
throughout four centuries. As well as original furniture, some of the
finest pieces from the Museum’s collections from other
houses
are also displayed. Originally built in 1580, much of the interior
was re-modelled during the 19th century ;
St
Fagans Castle is a Grade 1 listed building and one of the finest
Elizabethan manor houses in Wales.
The
gardens
are perhaps the best-kept secret at St Fagans, from those of the
gentry to the cottage
gardens
that provided food for working families.
Beautiful garden displays
surround the Castle including an Italian Garden (laid out in 1902,
restored in 2003) and thyme garden, while there are many features
original to the site.
The
idea of the museum is that St Fagans explores all aspects of how
people in Wales have lived, worked and spent their leisure time.
Throughout the year, St Fagans comes to life — literally — as
traditional festivals, music and dance events are celebrated. St
Fagans is a park, which inform us on the cultural heritage of Wales.
On
20th July 2012, the Heritage
Lottery Fund
announced that it is awarding
£11.5 million to St Fagans' National History Museum.
The
money will go towards « Making History », the exciting
£25.5 million project to
transform this much-loved museum.
For
the first time, you will be able to explore life in Wales from the
earliest humans to today in St Fagans.
