The city of BATH

Geographical aspects:
Bath is in Somerset in the South West of England.
The Avon river is crossing Bath and it pours in Bristol.

Size :
-Bath contains approximately 90 000 inhabitants



Historical Aspects:
-In 577 the saxons took Bath after the battle of Dyrham.

-In 781 King Offa Of Mercie took control of Bath and built the church dedicated to « Saint Peter ».

-In 973 Edgar of England was crowned in Bath abbey..

-Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia spent the four years of his exile, from 1936 to 1940, at Fairfield House in Bath.

During World War II, between the evening of 25th April and the early morning of 27th April 1942, Bath suffered three air raids in reprisal for RAF raids on the German cities of Lücker and Rostock.



Economical aspects:
Bath is a rich city thanks to its tourism and monuments,and its 90 000 inhabitants.

Cultural aspects:
There are many cultural places such as «Old Orchard Street Theatre» or «Lansdown Crescent», The « pulteney bridge », «Royal Crescent»

Bath is also a city where there are many festivals.
